Valencia still remains an appealing destination, and Valencians enjoy travelling, according to the findings of a recent Tourism Survey published in Spain.
According to data from the Residents Tourism Survey (ETR / FAMILITUR) published this Tuesday by the INE, the Valencian Community was the third tourist destination in the country in the second quarter of 2021, after Andalusia and Catalonia, receiving 4,264,435 tourists, accounting for 12.4 percent of all trips.
However, the length of overnight stays was 2.8 nights, which was the same as the national average, according to this report. Valencians, for their part, are the fourth most frequent travellers, trailing only Catalans, Andalusians, and Madrid, accounting for 11.1 percent of total trips in the second quarter. They made 3,819,093 trips with an average duration of 2.6 overnight stays.
In terms of expenditure, the Valencian Community had the fourth lowest average expenditure (47 euros) after Castilla-La Mancha (45), Región de Murcia (44) and Castilla y León (43 euros), according to the autonomous community of the main destination. Furthermore, Valencians spend the least amount of money in Spain, with 49 euros.
As stated in this report, residents in Spain made 34.3 million trips in the second quarter of 2021, 279.9 percent more than in the same period in 2020, though resident trips in Spain decreased by 32.1 percent when compared to the second quarter of 2019.
The national territory is the primary destination of 97.9 percent of trips, a 278.4 percent increase from the second quarter of last year. This type of travel has decreased by 26.3 percent when compared to the same period in 2019.
Trips abroad, which account for 2.1 percent of total travel, increased 364.5 percent compared to the same period in 2020 and decreased 85.2 percent compared to 2019.
