Valencia will promote Ciutat Vella as part of a Recovery Plan by hosting various events every Saturday beginning in October in an effort to revitalise one of the areas most affected by the pandemic.
With the representatives of the associations Plataforma Ciutat Vella I Viva, Intramurs, Viure Ciutat Vella, Albarca, Agrupació de Falles Ciutat Vella, and the Tourist Guides Association, the Department of Innovative Development of the Economic and Employment Sectors has agreed to develop a programme of recreational and cultural activities in Ciutat Vella’s squares. The initiative is part of the Ciutat Vella Reactivation Plan and aims to help revitalise one of the city’s most affected by the pandemic.
Pilar Bernabé, Councilor for Innovative Development of Economic Sectors, explained that the activities will take place every Saturday in the fourth quarter of the year, and that the neighbourhood associations will decide both the location and the programming that will be developed in each square.
“Today, we take another step forward in the Ciutat Vella Recovery Plan. We’ve already defined the lines of work, and we’re going to set up a work table with all of the district’s economic and cultural agents, as well as neighbourhood promoters, to promote Ciutat Vella in the fourth quarter of 2021. Furthermore, it will be accompanied by a plan of assistance linked to Plan Resistir,” he stated.
The Department is also working on the development of tourist routes via unique businesses, as well as the distribution of 20-euro vouchers to encourage consumption in the district’s commerce and hospitality. Direct aid for commerce and the hotel industry linked to the Resistir Plan will be added to the activities planned for the fourth quarter of 2021.
