The new hotel in Avenida Del Puerto in Valencia will be built on an empty stand at numbers 238 and 240.
Although it is difficult to obtain a hotel licence in Valencia, and the majority of existing hotels are empty, new hotel licences are granted almost weekly. The City Council prefers hotel developers in its fight against tourist apartments, so there are many current developments taking place. The most recent is a new four-star hotel in Avenida del Puerto in Valencia at numbers 238 and 240.
The new hotel will be built on the vacant lot that connects Avenida del Puerto to Calle Islas Canarias. It will have a ground floor, six additional floors, and 120 rooms, according to the project specifications. What’s particularly intriguing is an outdoor pool on the fourth floor, which will be one of the hotel’s main draws. The pool will be facing the side street.
There will also be 47 parking spaces beneath the building in the basement, as well as typical hotel spaces such as administration and reception areas, restaurant and cafeteria, and utility rooms on the ground floor. When completed, the hotel will employ between 20 and 30 people.
The new hotel will have facades on both Avenida del Puerto and Calle Islas Canarias, bringing this abandoned spot in line with the proposed new look for Avenida del Puerto and the entire area. The City Council recently announced that by widening the sidewalks and removing two car lanes from Avenida del Puerto, the entire area will be transformed into a more pedestrian-friendly environment.
“The new hotel will revitalise the city’s economic sector, on a particularly important road in Valencia. A hotel is a model that we prefer over tourist apartments, which have a negative impact on the price of residential rentals in the surrounding neighbourhoods “explained Lucía Beamud, the Councilor for Activity Licenses of the Valencia City Council.
